“The Spirit of Sports: The spirit of sports gives each of us who participate an opportunity to be creative. Sports knows no sex, age, race or religion. Sports gives us all the ability to test ourselves mentally, physically and emotionally in a way no other aspect of life can. For many of us who struggle with ‘fitting in’ or our identity – sports gives us our first face of confidence. That first bit of confidence can be a gateway to many other great things!” – Dan O’Brien, 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist, Decathlon

Athletes have a unique opportunity to share their talent and experiences with the world. I have the opportunity especially with this country’s youth to teach them through my journey on how to overcome adversity, face challenges, and gain confidence. Living and training in South Florida gives me an opportunity to be surrounded by a variety of cultures and communities. I have been lucky enough to support different events throughout the community, including working with the Jason Taylor Foundation. Getting off the diving board and getting into the community is where I know I can make a significant difference. Coaching, connecting, and teaching sportsmanship and the power of perseverance through my actions as an athlete are a privilege and a duty.
